Eugenia Walls Mattox Obituary

Mrs. Eugenia Walls Mattox was born on May 3, 1930, in Macon, Georgia to Sam Walls and Phyllis Taylor Walls.  She attended the public schools in Bibb County.

Mrs. Mattox, knowing that she needed Jesus in her life, joined the First Baptist Church in 1945 at the age of 15.  She served in different capacities until her health failed.  She really enjoyed working in the missionary department, especially circle #5, where former members, Mrs. Idonia Davis and Mrs. Alma Epps also served.  She served on the usher board a number of years.

She married Mr. M.L. Mattox and to this union two sons were born.  Eugenia was a good mother, grandmother, person and friend.  She was blessed with a long life.

Eugenia was no stranger to work.  She was employed by the Cagle’s Corporation for a number of years until her retirement.

Mrs. Mattox enjoyed cooking, shopping at Wal-Mart, talking on the phone and overseeing her family.

She was preceded in death by nine of her siblings; son, Mr. Sonny C. Walls and grandson, Mr. Mario Faulk.

She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Levinnie Miller of Akron, Ohio; son and devoted caretaker, Mr. Winfred Mattox and Jerome Mattox both of Macon, Georgia and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
