Ethel Mae Tharpe, affectionately known as Mae Day, was born on February 25, 1958, to the late Doretha Tharpe and Lucious Curry.
She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on October 5, 2025, in Warner Robins, Georgia. Ethel attended Twiggs County Public School System. She was a devoted homemaker who dedicated her life to caring for her family. Ethel was always known for her kindness, warm heart, and radiant smile. She brought joy to everyone she met and filled every room with love and laughter. She enjoyed cooking, cleaning, and spending time with her family-but most of all, she cherished being with her children and grandchildren.
Ethel leaves to cherish her loving memory: her children, Traci Derrick) Jenkins, Latrice Tharpe, and Kimonte Tharpe, Leetareyous Tharpe, Warner Robins, Georgia; and Quandre Tharpe of Atlanta, Georgia. She also leaves behind a devoted companion, Mr. Lee Grant Perry of Jeffersonville, Georgia; three sisters, Mary Anthony, Dorothy Quainton, and Frances King, all of Jeffersonville, Georgia; one brother, Ulysee (Eloise) Tharpe of Jeffersonville, Georgia; one aunt, Lois P. Thomas; and one uncle, Clarence Pauldo, both of Jeffersonville, Georgia.
She will be lovingly remembered by her devoted caregiver and daughter when needed, Davion Jones; fifteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Ethel's love, laughter, and selfless spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
