Ernie Jamel McRae Jr. was a man of resilience, heart, and unmistakable presence. His life was marked by perseverance, yet he continued to show up with love, humor, and an unshakable spirit. Those who knew Ernie remember his contagious laugh, his warmth, and his ability to make others feel truly seen.
Ernie was a devoted son to Ernie Jamel McRae, Sr. and Karen Brown. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, JD Jordan McRae; his father, Ernie McRae Sr.; and his brother, Rashawn Brown. He is survived by his mother, Karen Brown; his nana, Drucilla Miller; his sisters, Latisha and Tiffany McRae; and his niece, Larae (McRae) Starks. Each of them were cherished deeply and brought him immense pride and joy. In addition to his immediate family, he is also survived by a loving circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, all of whom were touched by his generous spirit.
An entrepreneur at heart, Ernie was a car salesman, a talented custom apparel airbrush artist as well as the owner of the clothing store, Unique Kulture. He used creativity as another way to connect with people, and his work reflected who he was: bold, expressive, and unique.
Though his life included many battles, Ernie met each one with courage. He survived more than most are ever asked to endure, and his journey stands as a testament to strength, faith, and the enduring power of love.
We are deeply grateful for the time we were given with him. Grateful for the laughter, the lessons, and the light he carried. Ernie’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved him and in the stories that will continue to be told.
