Eric Jermaine Walton

Eric Walton was born to Eddie Walton and Gloria Watkins on December 15, 1981, in forsyth, Georgia. He was a proud Mary Persons High School graduate: afterwards he joined the United States Marine Corps, showcasing strength and loyalty. After his military service, he became a heavy equipment operator and later found his true passion as a professional semi-truck driver, taking pride in every mile he drove. Eric was deeply committed to his family and known for his contagious laugh, storytelling, and Loyalty. He celebrated his cultural identity by wearing African colors to honor the Rastafarian heritage. Eric also had a creative side: he enjoyed writing, sketching, and baking, with his key lime cake and fudge candy being staples among family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Alma "Rayne" Southerland, of fayetteville, NC: his loving parents, Eddie and stepmother Carolyn "Pam" Walton of Macon, GA, and his mother, Gloria Watkins of forsyth, GA. Eric was a proud father to Murikal Walton, Jahkeair "Man-Man" Walton, and Nhalik Brown, and a dedicated stepfather to Shaunel Southerland, Javon Thompson, and Isis Southerland (all of fayetteville, NC), as well as James Thompson Ill and Tia Thompson (of Dallas, TX), and Ja'Quienten Thompson (of Columbus, NC). He is survived by four sisters: Malinda Walton and Carlene Thurman of forsyth, GA: Tamika Goddard of Atlanta, GA: and Tiffany (Brandon) Shinholster-Patterson of Macon.
GA. He also leaves behind two brothers, Calvin and Chris Thurman of forsyth, GA. Eric was preceded in death by his brother, Kelseu Walton. Eric was a grandfather to ten step-grandchildren. He is also survived by nine aunts, eight uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly. Additionally, he leaves behind his loving soulmate and devoted companion, Felicia Walton of MissisSippi. Eric will be remembered for his bold unapologetic personality, relentless work ethic, deep love for family, and pride in his roots. His presence will be forever missed but never forgotten.
