Equanza was born on August 7, 1982 in Macon, GA to Elvira Veal, a loving mother who tenderly called her. "my Sunshine". During her childhood she was blessed to be raised by a loving and protective stepfather, Russell Blount.
Quan, as she was affectionately called, was educated in Bibb County Schools. She graduated from Southeast High in 2000. Later, she earned a B.S. in Computer Information Systems from DeVry University.
Quan was very articulate, outgoing, and full of life. She embodied poise and grace. She exuded a calm demeanor and was always the voice of reason. Quan and her only son, Jamal, enjoyed fishing, traveling and visiting water parks, in order to get what she called her, "seasonal tan". They also were cultural foodies, always sampling different types of ethnic foods.
She was preceded in death by her great grandparents Carter and Ada Jones; grandfather, Henry Veal Sr.; (1) Uncle Torance Veal and her devoted fur baby, Marley Blackshear.
She leaves to cherish her memories, a loving son Jamal Blackshear; loving and dedicated mother, Elvira Veal; a devoted stepfather Russell Blount; a loyal, caring and ride-for-life brother Ronnie Person, Jr. and (2) loving half-brothers: Kendrick and Christopher Lewis; (3) Aunts: Patronia Williams, Yvette Veal and Antoinette (Mario) Chandler; (2) Uncles: Henry Veal and James Veal, a devoted friend Jarvis Blackshear; best friends, Jessica Faulks and Cindy Mendoza; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
