Mrs. Annie Lois Floyd Sealy has been married to her devoted and loving husband, Dr. Ben Sealy, who is the love of her life for 59 years. Lois was born in a loving environment to the parentage of Mr. Marshall Floyd and Mrs. Eula V. Wright. She was the oldest of seven children. The Lord called home this beautiful life on Friday, January 23, 2026.
EDUCATION
Lois attended Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida, where she received her Bachclor of Science in Business Education and Business Law. She also pursued a Doctorate of Philosophy in Vocational Administration. She attended the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia where she received a Master of Education in Career Guidance and Counseling. Lois attended Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia, where she received an Education Specialist Degree in Vocational Education and Administration.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Lois worked at Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia in Macon, Georgia as a Consultant - Education Standards Specialist for the President and CEO. Here she provided professional guidance in facilitating Georgia's Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission (NPEC) Minimum Standards for authorization.
She also worked at Georgia Department of Education in Atlanta, Georgia as a School Improvement Specialist (Leadership Facilitator). She collaborated with the Division of School Improvement and a Regional School Support Team to provide onsite school improvement services to a number of identified Needs Improvement (NI) schools. She contracted for four years; three of these years were at Crawford county Middle School in Roberta, Georgia.
Lois worked at D.M. Therell High School in Atlanta, Georgia as an Administrative Assistant to the Principal & Vocational/Technical Career Administrator. She provided administrative leadership and instructional supervision for technical career personnel and programs; fostered/promoted collaborative initiatives between the academic and career curriculum which enhanced opportunities for student achievement; coordinated the Southern Region Education Board consortium to Restructure Secondary Schools (SREB/CRSS) High Schools That Work Program; traveled to major industries, automobile manufactures and numerous conferences and seminars; presented at several of the (SREB/CRSS) High Schools That Work National Conferences in Atlanta, Georgia, Nashville, Tennessee and Orlando, Florida; negotiated business/industry/education partnerships which strengthened linkages between academic knowledge, skills, work-related problems and tasks; nominated by the Atlanta Public School Superintendent to work with the Atlanta Chamber and coordinated the Partners in Education Program with the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce for twenty years; assessed, maintained, and upgraded materials and equipment for the department; managed departmental budget and initiated screening of school personnel; prepared, organized, scheduled, presented, and administered projects, training programs, seminars, workshops and retreats.
Lois worked at Brown High School in Atlanta, Georgia as a Department Chairperson/Classroom Teacher. She scheduled and conducted departmental meetings and staff development activities; Interviewed and recommended hiring of new staff; Responsible for the managing and monitoring of departmental instructional funds; Assisted teachers with concerns of rigorous instructional practices; Developed individualized instructional plans to address the needs of challenged students, and coached on best practices and policies within the department; Maintained and inventoried departmental books, supplies, equipment and submitted purchase requisitions when necessary; Initiated job analysis for specific career projections and expectations; Taught four career education classes; Compiled and evaluated student data for career counseling sessions; Administered aptitude and abilities tests.
Lois enjoyed a very successful career and retired as an Atlanta Public System Administrator. She served as an Educational Standards Specialist for Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and a School Improvement Specialiss for the Georgia Department of Education and middle Georgia RESA. She was selected and participated in the Governor's School Leadership Institute,
Lois was the first Calendar Girl for the Afro-America Life Insurance Company. She was a member of "Becoming the Professional Woman."
POST RETIREMENT
Honors & Awards
• Drafted, designed, and coordinated the first High School Internship Proposal for United Parcel Service, Atlanta Georgia.
• Received Teacher of Excellence Award for Project Enhance.
• Participated in Expanding Leadership Skills for Women and Minorities in Vocational Education
Administration.
• Selected and participated in the Governor's School Leadership Institute.
• Appointed by Governor Joe Frank Harris to the Governor's Advisory Committee, Georgia Council on Vocational Education.
• Volunteer case Worker for Adopt-A-School Program with Atlanta Partnership of Business and Education.
• Georgia PECE Teacher of the Year.
• Georgia Guidance Educator of the Year.
• Member, Technical Education Advisory Council, Clayton State University, Morrow, Georgia.
• Selected by Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent to serve as a member of the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce Business-Education-Partnerships Committee. Worked very closely with corporate executives representing such companies as Georgia Power Company, Atlanta Gas Light Company, UPS, General Motors, Coca Cola, Bell South, Lockheed Martin/Marietta, Ford Motor Company and Delta Airlines.
• Nominated to serve on the Board of Directors of the Ruth Hartley Mosley Women's Center, upon the recommendation of the late Pastor Lonzy Edwards.

• Lois at an early age of 12, acknowledged her faith and was active in the Youth Ministries.

• Coordinator - Young Ladies Ministry which is partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Center Georgia - organized and chaired under the leadership of the late Pastor Lonzy Edwards
Those Lois leaves to cherish her precious memories are: her loving husband, Dr. Benjamin H. Sealy; siblings, Geraldine F. Dumas, Eula F. Henderson, Marshall Floyd (Shirley); sisters-in-law, Lerita Weaver, Carolyn Ball, Madeline Morley; brothers-in-law, Robert Mack, Ulysess Fitzpatrick; aunt, Carrie Nelson and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Preceding Lois in death are siblings, Eleanor F. Jones, Eugenia F. Mack and Marjorie F. Fitzpatrick.
