On March 3, 1953, the Tybee community welcomed Dotsy Mae Ross, a soul whose presence was defined by warmth, loyalty, and an infectious, easy-going spirit. From her early years attending the Ada Banks School on Seventh Street, Dotsy cultivated a life rich in simple joys and deep connections. She was, quite simply, a person loved by many.
Dotsy was known as a good friend to all, her nature remarkably gentle and light. Her true passion, however, was card playing-a pastime that elevated her to legendary status at her favorite spot on IBEX. There, she was well-known for her quick wit and playful competitive streak, especially during a lively game of Crazy 8s. These moments, filled with laughter and companionship, were the essence of a life spent making every moment count.
Dotsy was preceded in death by her loving parents, Helen Ross Shivers and Frank Ross, Sr., three sisters, Ella Mae Ross, Geraldine Ross, and Gussie Leola Ross, and a brother, Jimmy Ross.
Dotsy leaves behind a legacy of luvr and beautiful memories that will be cherished by her two devoted daughters, Teresa Ross and Pamela Richardson, and her four beloved grandchildren. She is alo survived by her cherished siblings: Elois, Litt, Dahlia Johnson, Frank Ross, Jr., Terry Ross, and Geneva Woodard (Gregory, Sr.), as well as her loving and caring niece, Latara Woodard.
Her story is a testament to finding joy in the everyday-a life well-played, well-loved, and truly having had the time of her life.
