Dorothy Anderson died peacefully in her sleep Friday evening January 20, 2023.  Her parents were Louise Bryant and Alonzo Williams.  Dorothy was born on July 8, 1940.  She was 82 years old.  Dorothy spent her early life in Culloden, Georgia where she attended her primary school years, however in the 10th grade she moved to Macon and graduated from the prestigious Ballard Hudson High School in Macon.  It was at Ballard Hudson where she won the statewide spelling contest.  Not only were her language skills exceptional she also displayed an acumen for numbers, while she attended Crandel Business College in Macon, Georgia.  After receiving her business degree Dorothy traveled to New York.  It was there in New York that she would meet four friends that would have an impact on her for the rest of her life.  They became her extended family.  Dorothy working career started at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.  It was a Memorial Sloan that she decided to further her education by attending Lehman College in the Bronx New York where she received her Bachelor's of Science (CPA).

Dorothy skills in business and her knowledge in accounting helped in the creation of the school of African Studies established by Drs. John Henrik Clark and Ben Jochaman two revered griots in Harlem.  The school for African Studies wan an outgrowth from the first world with many other historians and elders who shared theor wisdom.  Dr. Ben organized annual tours to Egypt.  Dorothy and Arimentha Grant served as tour guides in 1981.  Dr. Ivan Van Sertima, former professor at Rutgers University and Author of They Came Before  Columbus inspired Dorothy and Arimentha to organize their own group tour to Mexico.  To see the evidence of the presence of their ancestors in ancient Mexico.  Their claim to fame is they are the first two African Americans women to take a group of African Americans to Mexico to see this evidence.

Like her mother, Dorothy was independent, discipline, determined, dynamic, caring, and loving person who shared her wisdom and knowledge with members of her family, church, and community.
