Donniell Vincent Godfrey, affectionately known as “Vincent,” passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026, at the age of 63. He was born on November 4, 1962, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Vincent was educated in the Philadelphia School District, where he received his high school diploma. Shortly thereafter, he proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving from 1980 to 1984 and also served in the Marine Reserves for another seven years. During his time in service, he attained the rank of Corporal and was honorably discharged.
After returning home to Philadelphia, Vincent built a life rooted in hard work and determination. He worked as a truck driver alongside his grandfather in Jersey City and was also skilled as an auto mechanic and car stereo installer. Vincent was known for his ability to fix anything and his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need; including driving family and friends anywhere they needed to go.
Vincent met and fell in love with Yvonne when they were young, and after many years of friendship, they were united in marriage. Their love was steadfast, enduring, and a true testament to commitment and partnership.
Vincent was preceded in death by his parents, Donniell Larry Godfrey and Charlieann Godfrey, and his brother, Stanley Godfrey.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Yvonne Godfrey; his 4 children; his brother, Gregory Godfrey; his sisters-in-law; his brothers-in-law; his 11 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in God’s promise:
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18
Vincent will be remembered for his strength, his service, his kindness, and the love he gave so freely. While he is no longer with us in body, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
