Ms. Diane Swayne made her final transition from labor to reward on January 17, 2026, surrounded by love. Today we assemble to celebrate her life and rejoice in knowing that God did a great thing when this “gift” was created.
Ms. Swayne was born on July 20, 1947, in Macon, GA to Leila Bell Daniels and John Spivey. She was one of six children: Patricia, Charles, Edward, Joe, and Ann.
She nurtured her education and generated good grades with little effort. She was an Honor graduate of the 1965 Peter G. Appling class.
She served over two decades with the Construction Production and Maintenance Workers of Local 1210. She carried the title of secretary but served in whatever capacity needed to aid, support, and employ union workers. She was a lifelong learner and excelled in the workspace. She met and connected with some wonderful people during her tenure.
Ms. Swayne was blessed with a gift to care for others. She prided herself on adding value to others in the “help” space. Genuine compassion was not missed on her. She was intentional about this one thing she believed….Love was an action verb. She developed a love for caring for others, God blessed and labeled it her gift. A heart of gold, if she was able to help anyone along the way, she did just that. She pivoted post-retirement and offered her hand to the medical field. The enjoyment inhaled in the role of professional sitting was priceless. A term she used often….Its someone else today, it could be you tomorrow.
Ms. Swayne gave birth to one child, a daughter of whom she mothered well. Understanding the assignment of effective parenting, she became a role model and hero in her home. Commitment was unwavering, devotion was consistent, and love was an action verb. She was most proud of the daughter she birthed, the little girl she molded, and the adult she witnessed for over five decades.
She leaves a wealth of memories and love to her Exodus 20:12 daughter Monica A. Swayne. One sister, Mrs. Ann Singleton (Harold), Macon, GA and one brother, Mr. Joe Nathan Wells, Dublin, GA. Two Devoted Friends: Mrs. Deardra Hazel (Alfred) and Mrs. Juanita Harris (Pelmon) and a conservative number of nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
