Debora Golphin Obituary

On August 16, 1962, God granted Henry Davis and Juanita (Madea) Barlow Davis their hearts’ desire and blessed them with a daughter, Debora Ann Davis. You see, Debora was the only girl in the Davis household which at that time consisted of her 5 older brothers.  She attended B.S. Ingram Elementary School.  The Davis family increased in size with two more boys. Debora in her teen years as big sister to her younger brothers, Tony and Larry was always there caring for and protecting them.  Debora was a graduate of Central High School.

She obtained employment and worked throughout her lifetime for the Medical Center (Navient), Bassett, and The Macon Telegraph and News.  Debora was known for her gentle, kind, giving, caring; loving, optimistic and hopeful spirit which was experienced by many. On December 18, 1998, Debora went on a work lunch break to the Courthouse and united in holy matrimony to her sweetheart, Ernest Golphin Jr.

Debora loved dancing, fishing, cooking, listening to gospel songs: The Battle Is Not Yours, The Lord Made a Way for Me, On Time God and Yesterday. She also enjoyed old school music and a favorite of hers was the song Sexy Man. A few of her family’s memorable moments are of Debora’s skating downhill with Jeff, her surprised shocking facial expression when entering a birthday celebration that was in her honor and Debora’s constantly mentioning to Willie James he acts just like their father.  Her last words when always speaking to her family was, “I love you, be safe and take care.”

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, brother, Albert Lee Davis; uncle Leon; Aunt Lula Mae, niece Nekeisha (K.D.) Davis, sister-in-law Sandra Davis, nephew Antonio Davis and Cousin Robbie Nell.

On Sunday, October 22, 2023, Debora departed this earthly life. She leaves to cherish her memory a loving devoted husband, Ernest Golphin Jr.; loving children, Laquana Daniels Williams (Antonio), Tawana Daniels Robinson, Tony Daniels, and Marcus Everette (Shavoniric); grandchildren, KeJuan Harris, Kawanna Harris, Arlissa Harris, Kentrez Robinson, Tatiana Grant, Marquis Fed, Marquel Everette, Mellede Everette, Ta’Karrea English, Marqueita Everette and Marcus Kid; siblings, Robert Davis (Janice), Willie James Davis (Jewell), Johnny Davis (Carolyn), Henry Jeff Davis, Tony Davis (Carolyn) and Larry Davis; father-in-law, Ernest Golphin, Sr.; brothers- in- law, Dewayne Golphin (Paulette), Reginald Golphin; sister-in-law, Valerie Butler, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Debora’s beautiful loving caring and giving spirit will be truly and forever missed.  Thank you, God, for her life.
