Deacon Jimmy Dean Obituary

Deacon Jimmy Lee Dean, Sr. was born on October 3, 1951, in Jeffersonville, Georgia, to the late Deacon Johnny Dean and Mattie Bell Curry Dean. He peacefully departed this life on Friday, April 3, 2026, at the age of 74.

Jimmy was a proud graduate of Peter G. Appling High School. From an early age, his playful and joyful spirit was evident. As a young boy, he would often climb trees while his siblings worked below, calling down with a smile, “Y’all not done yet?”—a lighthearted memory that perfectly captures the humor and warmth he carried throughout his life. He later became a dedicated employee of J.M. Huber Corporation, where he faithfully served for over 30 years, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.

A man of deep faith, Jimmy gave his life to Christ at an early age and remained steadfast in his walk with the Lord. He was a devoted and active member of Chance Hill Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a Deacon and Chairman. His willingness to serve, uplift others, and lend a helping hand was evident to all who knew him. Even during times of illness, his faith never wavered, and his joyful spirit continued to shine, bringing comfort and encouragement to those around him.

Above all, Jimmy was deeply devoted to his family. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored. Whether picking them up from school or simply spending quality time together, his presence was a constant source of love and support. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—playing gospel music, tending to his garden, traveling to places like St. Simons Island, getting his feet wet in th ocean and sharing laughter-filled conversations with his brother Sammy late into the night. Although he preferred driving, he experienced his first flight to Philadelphia, which he truly enjoyed. A loyal fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Falcons, he proudly supported his teams with enthusiasm.

He leaves to cherish his memory to his loving wife, Joyce Dean; his sons, Jerome (Ericka) Dean of Huntsville, Alabama, Jimmy Dean, Jr. of Milledgeville, Georgia; his daughter, Jessica Dean (Arnold) Rucker of Lizella, Georgia; one sister, Diane Armstrong; two brothers, Sammy (Patricia) Dean and Albert (Wanda) Dean; brothers-in-law, Phillip Henry Miller, Jr. of Georgetown, Kentucky, Thomas Joseph (Bridgette) Miller of Conyers, Georgia and Andrew (Ellen) Miller of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; father-in-law, Phillip Henry ( Sandy) Miller, Sr.; two bonus daughters, Koreen Clowers and Regina Williams both of Macon, Georgia; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
