Dea Anthney "Toolum" Hughes, 56 was called to his eternal home and resting place on Saturday, June 27, 2026.
Dea was born on September 25, 1969, in Eastman, GA to the late Lois and Elvis Hughes. He attended Dodge County High School and Heart of Georgia Technical College. After graduating, Dea began driving semi-trucks, enjoyed being a chef, and loved spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents AC and Alberta Hughes (paternal); Timothy and Leila Parks (maternal); brothers Elvin and Felix Hughes; uncles Oliver "Pee Wee" Mann, Sonny Mann; aunts Peggy Lawson, Charlie Mae Mann; and cousin Renea Baxter.
Dea is survived by his devoted ex-wife of 23 years, Tabitha "Happy" Hughes, special friend Taneesha Patterson, children, Corey Hughes, Amiah Franklin, Zane Mincey, Makayla Sears, Demiah Hughes, and Storm Hughes; grandchildren Jemeriah, Jomarion, and Rocky; brothers Malcom, John, and James (Renea); sister Lawanda Blake (Robert); uncles Marvin (Jewel) and Obbie Mann (Polly); aunts Rozenia Gooch, Jewell Mann, Phyllis Mann and Joann Baker. He is the beloved uncle of Donnie Hughes, Maria Patterson, Terrance Chancey, Marlena Hughes, Datonia Laury, Marquita Gooch, Felix Hughes, Jr, Brittany Hughes, Ashley Hughes, Brianna Hughes, Kalynn Jones, Jada Jackson, James Hughes, Jr, Christopher Hughes, Layla Hughes, Ashley and Tony Jackson; and a host of great nieces and nephews, as well as cousins.
Dea will be remembered by his spirit that was just as big as his broad shoulders, round-shiny bald head, but most importantly his infectious smile that could light up any room.
