Carolyn Brown Sampson, lovingly known as “Love,” was born on May 2, 1958, in Macon, Georgia, to the late Andrew and Lugenia Brown. The youngest of 11 children, she was cherished as the baby sister of the family and raised in the historic Pleasant Hill neighborhood—a place that helped shape her vibrant and spirited soul.
Educated in the Bibb County School System, Carolyn later retired from Fincher’s Barbecue, where she made lasting memories and friendships. Carolyn lived life boldly and unapologetically—always on her own terms. If you knew her, you knew it was “her way or the highway, baby!” But beneath that fierce independence was a heart so genuine, kind, and welcoming that it touched everyone who crossed her path.
She was a woman of strength, joy, and resilience—a true light in every room she entered. Carolyn was the life of the party, full of laughter, warmth, and an energy that will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
In her final years, she faced life’s challenges with unmatched grace and courage. Her faith in the Most High never wavered, and she held firmly to hope and peace. On May 7, 2025, Carolyn heard her Heavenly Father’s call and peacefully transitioned into eternal rest. Her earthly journey may have ended, but a beautiful new chapter begins in Heaven—restoring what was lost and continuing to guide those she loved.
She is now smiling in her dream, surrounded by love, amazed at the many beautiful souls who have gathered to honor her. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit lives on forever in our hearts.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her loving parents, Andrew and Lugenia Brown; three brothers, James, Julius, and Reuben Brown; and four sisters, Dorothy Davis, Geraldine Harris, Joan Brown, and Sharon Brown.
She leaves behind a beautiful legacy in the hearts of those who loved her dearly. Cherishing her memory is her devoted spouse, Bill Sullivan; her beloved sons: Danny “Tater” Jackson, Steve “Puncho” Sampson, Brett “Frog” Sampson, and Shaun “Samp” Sampson; as well as her cherished daughters-in-law Pamela Williams, Tierra Tharpe and Fallon Altman.
She is also lovingly remembered by her brothers, Preston and Richard Brown; sister, Betty Spencer, and sisters in law Hazel Brown, and Jackie Brown; and a deeply honored niece, Ametriss Brown.
Carolyn's spirit lives on in her 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of her heart. In addition, a host of devoted nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends will continue to honor her memory and carry her torch forward.
