Bessie Johnson

Bessie Johnson,101, of Danville, Georgia went to eternal rest on May 16, 2023. Bessie was born on August 21,1921 to her proud parents, Maddie Rollin and Dan Wilburn of Laurens County.

Bessie married at a young age to Ben Joe Johnson, and to this union five children were reared.

Bessie became a member of Eason Hill Baptist Church where she was a deaconess until her passing. She enjoyed making quilts, cooking, and spending time with her family. Bessie was a foster care provider for 30 years, and was very passionate about it. She was loved by many in her community, and even surrounding areas. She was fondly referred to as "Bigma", "Big Sister", and "Cuzin Sister".

Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and husband.

She is survived by her five children, Martha Simmons of Macon, Georgia, Gladys Lindsey of Cincinnati, Ohio, Christopher Basley of Clarksville, Tennessee, Melissa (Eric) Glover of Dry Branch, Georgia and Merita Evans of Macon, Georgia; a devoted niece, Gladys James of Dublin, Georgia; twelve grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren, and numerous great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, loved ones, and friends.
