Bennie Ross, Jr., 68, was called home to glory on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. Born in Macon, Georgia, Bennie was the beloved son of the late Vinnie Mae Ross and Bennie Ross, Sr. From a young age, he displayed a strong work ethic, a warm heart, and an unwavering loyalty to those he loved. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and a sense of security to everyone who knew him.
Bennie was a proud graduate of Southwest High School, where he built lifelong friendships and earned the respect of teachers and peers alike. He began his career as a roofer, demonstrating exceptional dedication and craftsmanship in his work. Later, he transitioned to life on the road as a tractor trailer driver—a career that he embraced wholeheartedly until his retirement eight years ago. Bennie took pride in his work and was known by his colleagues for his reliability and commitment to excellence.
Throughout his life, Bennie was a source of strength and support to his family and friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether it was fixing something around the house, offering words of wisdom, or simply being present when someone needed him. His quiet acts of kindness left lasting impressions on all who crossed his path. His generosity and patience were unmatched, and his love for others was evident in everything he did.
Bennie was deeply cherished by his family. He shared 40 beautiful years of marriage with his loving wife, Renee Ross. Together, they raised their children, Lavena and Bennie III, instilling in them the values of hard work, compassion, and integrity. He was also a devoted brother to Jeremy Ross. Bennie's family was the center of his world, and he took great pride in their accomplishments and happiness. His love for them was steady and unconditional.
Though he is no longer physically with us, Bennie’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched. His memory will be held dearly by all who knew him—for his laughter, his wisdom, and the immense love he gave so freely. He will be missed more than words can express, but his spirit will continue to guide and inspire those who were blessed to be part of his life.
