Benjamin Mims Jr., affectionately known as "Pee Wee," was born on December 14, 1942, in Macon, Georgia, to the late Benjamin Mims Sr. and Louella Jones. He peacefully departed this life on April 10, 2026, entering his heavenly home.
Pee Wee was a loving, strong, kind, and faithful man who will be remembered for his smile, wisdom, strength, and the deep, genuine, and contagious love he shared with all who knew him. The love he had for his family was special, and he made sure it was well known. He had an abundance of family and friends who will continue to cherish his memories.
He was educated in Bibb County and Detroit, Michigan. He was employed with the City of Macon for several years before becoming self-employed. In his free time, Pee Wee enjoyed golf, spending time with his grandchildren, listening to gospel music, and working alongside his sons in lawn service. More than anything, he loved everyone and was deeply protective of his family.
Pee Wee was married to Agnes Mims, who preceded him in death on January 7, 2016. He was also preceded in death by his three grandchildren, Saboria Finnell, Brandon Howard, and Riasia Howard; his brother, Howard Wardlaw Jr.; and his stepfather, Howard Wardlaw Sr.
His memories will be cherished by his children, Deborah Cody (David), Takeela King (James), Stephanie Green (Danny), Desmond Mims, Christopher Finnell, Ketia Mims, Darryl Mims, Nacoma Finnell, and Latoya Finnell; his brothers, Andre Wardlaw (Nova) and Anthony Wardlaw (Lisa); his 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; one aunt, Susie Thomas, whom he was raised with as a sister; his godchildren, Preston Green, Ayesha Sinclair, and Pamela Pearson; along with many others for whom he was a father figure.
He also leaves behind three devoted cousins, Smith Sinclair Jr., Sheila Pitts, and Juanita Simmons, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his Fort Hill family, all of whom will miss him dearly.
