Barbara Jean Meridy transitioned from labor to reward on March 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of family and faith. Known for her electric smile and generous heart, Barbara was the kind of woman who left a mark wherever she went. She was widely respected as a “tax pro” and business office guru, but even more so for her kindness, wisdom, and her favorite reminder: “Prayer can go where you cannot go, and prayer will do what you cannot do.”
Born in Wrightsville, Georgia on November 10, 1955, to James Lee Meridy and Mattie Will Arline-Meridy, Barbara was educated in the Bibb County Public School System and later earned degrees in Secretarial Science, Business Administration, and Accounting from Central Georgia Technical College and Macon State College. She retired as an OFI Processing Supervisor from the Bibb County Department of Family & Children Services, where she dedicated her professional life to helping others.
Barbara was deeply rooted in her faith. Raised in the Church of God in Christ, she accepted Christ at an early age and lived out her beliefs with unwavering devotion. For over 40 years, she served faithfully at Ash Street Church of God in Christ, where she held many roles—from Sunday School teacher to Usher Board President to Financial Secretary. She also gave her time and talents to the Southern Georgia Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, contributing as an usher, nurse’s guild member, and trusted financial and tax consultant. Even as her health declined, she continued to serve until God called her home with the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant…..”
Barbara was preceded in death by her father, James Lee Meridy; mother, Mattie Will Arline Meridy-Robinson; and her beloved brothers, Arcifues Meridy I and James Meridy.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and strength. She is survived by her sister, Priscilla Meridy; her children, Nikki Williamson of McDonough, GA, and Paul Williamson, Jr. (Laronda) of Macon, GA; and her beloved blended family children: Ernest Babbs, Jr. (Kelly), Karla Cromontia (Larry), and Tracy Miller (Tony). She also shared a deep spiritual bond and lifelong friendship with Christine Bell (Wendell) of Macon, GA.
Her memory will be cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless others whose lives she touched: James DeAngelo Meridy, Tory Meridy, Yulonda Meridy, Arcifues Meridy II (Nikki), Marcus Meridy, Aleishia M. Kidd (Jason), Brantley Clark, Keila Clark, Shelbi Meridy, Tray Williamson (Zanda), Daphne Lawson (Ron), Billy Rollins, Maurice Jackson, Dr. Christopher Jackson, Brandy Williamson, and many more.
Barbara lived a life rooted in grace, faith, and service. Her impact echoes through the lives she blessed, and her legacy will continue in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
