Barbara Ann Cruise Horton, age 76, of Macon, Georgia, passed away peacefully. Born on October 5, 1949, in Los Angeles, California, Barbara Ann lived a full and meaningful life marked by strength, honesty, and love for her family.
She was united in marriage to her husband, John Thomas Horton, Sr. Barbara Ann is survived by her only brother, Larry Wallace of Macon, Georgia; and her four children, Sarita Horton of Macon, Georgia, John Horton Jr. (Helen Ross) of California, Harold McKing of Macon, Georgia; and Dameon Bonner (Camilla Cooks)of Cape Coral, Florida.
She leaves to cherish her memory 15 grandchildren, Damia, Victoria, Porsha, Brittany, Tia, John Thomas Horton III, Doctor, Tywan, Jantoria, Kayla, Raheim, Rashaun, Azaria, Anthony, and Kayden; and 6 great-grandchildren: Zaye, Sincere, Amiyah, Be’arr, Skyler, and Dominique. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and an endless list of friends who loved her dearly.
Barbara Ann was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Williemae Byle and Silas Cruise; her only sister, Edamae Banks; her aunt, Verlie-Mae Lockhart; her grandson, John Thomas Horton III, her protector, Zaun, and her beloved, Ivory Joseph Howard.
She dedicated several years of service working at Robins Air Force Base, where she was known for her work ethic and dependability.
Barbara Ann loved fellowshiping with family and friends, singing and dancing, and most of all educating and guiding her grandchildren on how life truly was from her own point of view. She was truly one of a kind—a woman who spoke her truth without hesitation. As she often said, “If I said it, I owned it—and if I did it, I told you straight up.” She was never one to throw rocks and hide her hands.
She lived boldly, loved fiercely, and remained unapologetically herself.
She was Barbara Ann.
