Alton Liggins was born July 4, 1944 to the late Emmitt Liggins, Sr. and Alberta Simpson Liggins in Milledgeville, GA. Alton was the third of nine children. He attended Baldwin County Public Schools. At an early age, Alton joined Friendship Baptist Church in Milledgeville, GA.
He served as a Vietnam Veteran in the U.S. Army. He was married to the late Ethel Liggins for 55 years.
Alton was preceded in death by his sister and brothers. Mildred Liggins, Mary Louise Liggins, Lonzie Liggins, Tommy Liggins, Emmitt Liggins Jr. and Jimmy Liggins.
He leaves to cherish his memories to two sons, Allen Liggins and Phillip (Rhonda) Parham; two sisters, Loretta Bryant and Elizabeth (Donald) Webb; five sisters-in-law, Mary Liggins, Louise Liggins, Ernestine (Emmitt) Liggins, Cynthia (Jimmy) Liggins and Phyllis (Tommy) Liggins; seven grandchildren, Phillip II, Keosha, Brittney, Trevor, Adriana, Alicia and Analise. Additionally, he leaves behind six great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
