Abraham Simmons, Jr.

Abraham Lincoln Simmons Jr., affectionately known as “Abo,” passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, at the age of 72 in Macon, Georgia.

Born in New Haven, Connecticut and raised in Macon, Georgia, Abo was the beloved son of the late Abraham Lincoln Simmons Sr. and Addie Simmons. He was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel Simmons; sister, Teresa Addie Simmons and his beloved son, Abraham Lincoln Simmons III. He attended Bibb County School System, where he began a lifelong journey marked by hard work, dedication, and care for others.

Abo worked diligently throughout his life, serving in maintenance roles at the Macon Housing Authority, Georgia Power, and Dixie Plumbing Supply. He was known for his reliability, strong work ethic, and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Abo found joy in life’s simple pleasures—especially fishing, which brought him peace and happiness. His laughter, storytelling, and warm spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Regina Simmons; his loving children, Demetrie Nelson, Adriane Sanders, and Trayvon Simmons. He is also survived by his caring siblings, Sandra Jordan (Vernon), Elaine Thomas, Iris Richardson, Gary Simmons (Hilda), Stanley Simmons (Jackie), and Barry Simmons (Jennifer); a devoted aunt, Annie Person of Columbus, GA; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

Abo’s life was one of quiet strength, kindness, and faith. His legacy of love and dedication will live on through his family and all those whose lives he touched.
